Description: Access Books transforms public school libraries in historically underserved neighborhoods by providing them with new high quality book collections. The library is also transformed with brightly colored murals.
Volunteer Role: Assist with the cataloguing of new books for the school library, sorting donated classroom books, painting on murals in the library.

Beach Cities Health District - Festival Assistance (2.5 Hrs)
Description: Beach Cities Health District - Adam's Middle School PTSA Health and Wellness Festival- interactive workshops, fitness classes, healthy food vendors, and much more.
Volunteer Role: Volunteers will be assisting staff with the inflatable slide as well as at the booth sharing program information and running the gratitude Jenga activity.

Description: Hermosa Beach Education Foundation - Hearts of Hermosa event set-up
Volunteer Role: set up tables, chairs, and decorations for Hearts of Hermosa, which is the biggest fundraiser of the year for Hermosa Beach schools.
Shift: 2 hours. 4 volunteers can sign up. For the Saturday shifts feel free to sign up for more than one shift.

Indivisible Arts - After School Program (1.5 Hrs)
Description: Indivisible Arts is a South Bay 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to cultivating creativity, consciousness, and connection through the arts.
Volunteer Role: Assist with the Invisible Arts / Resin Art after-school program. Volunteers will assist elementary school students with their art projects for the after-school program: 3D printing, painting, music, art projects, etc. No artistic experience necessary.
Shift: There is one shift from 4:00-5:30 pm. There are 5 volunteer slots available.

Mychal's Annual Luncheon & Auction is the largest fundraiser of the year for the organization.
Role: help set up for the event and at the end of the day help break down the event

Description: Help with setup & cleanup during Earth Day celebration & luncheon at Wilderness Park. Cleanup shift duties include: breaking down tables, carry tables/chairs, help clean up.

St. Cross Rise Against Hunger (1.5 or 2 hour shifts)
Description: St. Cross is hosting the 1 day meal packing event for Rise Against Hunger, which ships food to international destinations such as schools, elder care facilities and vocational training locations for underserved communities
Role: Meal packing
Location: St. Cross Episcopal Church, 1818 Monterey Blvd., Hermosa Beach
To enter the parking lot behind the parish hall (where they will be working) turn into the driveway just north of 1736 Monterey. To enter the north parking lot turn into the driveway immediately north of the church building. Carpooling or biking is encouraged. Michael Stull 310-560-2505 can answer questions that day.

St. James / Feed the Needy - Baking (2 Hrs)
Description: St. John Catholic Church in Redondo Beach depends on donations to serve lunch to the needy 3 times per week. Volunteers serve 40-60 meals on each of these days to assist low income families, seniors the homeless and anyone else in need. Our cookies are their dessert.
Volunteer Role: Bake a minimum of 12 cookies- any flavor (brownies and other dessert bars are okay too). 3 cookies per bag and each bag should have a sticker or tag with an inspirational message such as "you are enough."
Shift: There is 1 shift for 2 hours at your convenience.
Location: Drop-off the cookies at Autumn Stephen's house - 920 10th St. Hermosa Beach - leave cookies in basket by front door.
Special Requirements:
-Drop off your cookies by 5pm Sunday.
-Please put your smaller bags of cookies in a large bag with your name on it .
-You may get credit for this activity 4 times in 9th grade, 3 times in 10th grade, 2 times in 11th grade. Additional credit may be earned after you've satisfied your annual hours.

The Lovejoy Foundation (2.5 Hrs)
Description: The Lovejoy Foundation is a no-kill animal welfare organization focused on helping dogs and cats find homes.
Volunteer Role: Assist at adoption fairs by walking dogs, organizing donated supplies, cleaning up after the animals and socializing the animals.
Shift Information: There is 1 shift with unlimited volunteer slots. The shift is 2.5 hours.
Location: 1121 W Hillcrest Blvd. Inglewood, CA 90301
Special Requirements:
-Wear closed-toe shoes.
-Limit use of mobile phone. Leave in pocket or bag most of the time.
-There will be a short training before participating that happens in the 2:30pm shift. You must attend the 2:30pm shift if it is your first time volunteering. Lovejoy would prefer if that the Mom stays to chaperone for first-time volunteers.

Tour de Pier (between 2.5 & 4 hours)
Description: Tour de Pier is a fundraising event for cancer-related issues. This event brings indoor cycling, outdoors and occurs on the Manhattan Beach Pier.
Volunteer Role: Day 1: Assist with setting up bikes, sweeping parking lot, wiping down equipment, etc
Day 2:Assist with event, help clean-up (loading up bikes, breaking down event, etc. )
Shift Information: Day 1: There are 3 shifts. Shift one is for 3.5 hours of credit, shift 2 is for 3 hours of credit, shift 3 is for 3 hours. Day 2: 3 shifts; shifts 1 & 2 are 4 hours, shift 3 is 2.5 hours.
Location: Manhattan Beach Pier and the Strand
Special Requirements:

Description: Pets In the Park is an annual, free family event presented by the Friends of the Parks welcoming South Bay residents to bring pets "on leash" to Valley park in Hermosa Beach for Animal Blessings, pet parade and more.
Volunteer role: 3 volunteers are needed to help set up for the event, staff the event and breakdown after the event.
Instructions:
Meet up at Hermosa Storage on Valley and 11th Street to help load truck. Then walk/bike to Valley Park Kiwanis Club to help unload the truck.

Redondo Beach Sunset Champions League (1.5 hrs)
Role description: Volunteers pair up with special needs baseball players and help their player navigate the game and have fun with the player/cheer them on. All players are special needs, so volunteers need to be prepared to help them understand and participate and cheer them on.
No chaperones are needed but moms can volunteer too.

Hermosa Classic is a new partnership with the NFL and there will be some Rams players there.
Volunteer role: Help set up goals + other event setup needs. This is a two-hour shift.

Hermosa Classic is a new partnership with the NFL and there will be some Rams players there. There will be open tryouts & drills. 3 slots available.
Volunteer role: Help set up drills, shag balls, other field support
